Chess In Hiroshima 4: Dr M Tries Again With Der Linkspringer…

Here’s the second game of chess played between Dr M and myself after the History in English class on Wednesday July 4th. Once again, Dr M as White opened with what the Germans call der Linksspringer – i.e. the Queen’s Knight Opening – to which I responded with the Caro Cahn, although the game never transposed into a King’s Pawn opening. Dr M developed his King’s Knight, and then his Queen’s Pawn. It resulted in an interesting game, and was played with greater care until Dr M left his King’s Knight unguarded and neglected on the King’s Rook’s file…

The camera battery ran out of juice before the end of this game. The last move we can see is Dr M avoiding Checkmate by moving his King’s Knight’s Pawn to KKt3. Dr M’s kingside attack had pretty much broken down, or at least could be contained while I prepared to clobber him by advancing my Queen’s Rook’s Pawn.
