Title: Aspects of E. M. Forster
Location: Aster Plaza, Hiroshima
Date: 18th November 2010
Time: 13:30- 15:00
Hosted by: “Sekai O Miru Kai”
Description: I will be giving a talk on E. M. Forster and his novels to the Hiroshima based international culture study group, “Sekai O Miru Kai”.
I will talk about the key themes that run through his novels, so a good way for Japanese members and guests to prepare for the lecture would be to watch the film versions of his novels, which are available in good DVD rental shops or on Amazon.co.jp:
- A Passage To India (1984), dir. David Lean
- A Room With A View (1985), dir. James Ivory
- Maurice (1987), dir. James Ivory
- Where Angels Fear To Tread (1991), dir. Charles Sturridge
- Howards End (1992), dir. James Ivory
Guests are welcome to attend.
The talk will be in English with simultaneous translation.
I gave a lecture to “Sekai O Miru Kai” back in April 2009 on the theme: “Finding Machiavelli And His Ideas In The Plays Of Shakespeare” so this will be my second appearance.
